Grieving family says baby’s death was accidental

a grieving family spoke only to eyewitness news four about the tragic death of their son. the couple’s 10 month old boy died when he fell from the family’s suv yesterday. tonight the parents tell us they’re tortured by the baby’s death and wondering why police kept them apart from their dying child. cristina rodda has their story. “i said please take me in handcuffs if you need to take me the hospital.. only ten more minutes they kept telling me.” nicole matson and michael ortega were not able to go see their son at the hospital. sitting in a room by myself not being able to do anything but scream. they were with police– as they investigated the death of the couple’s baby boy. we’ve learned that the mother was driving the vehicle backing out of the drive way thursday evening mattson says she was in the driver’s seat– with her foot on the brake of the family’s suv.. baby nico and his 6 year old sister stayed in the back seat– while nico’s dad michael went to get the baby’s car seat. the baby was right next to the door– when michael opened it the baby fell out. nico fell and i reached to grab him and i let my foot off of the brake. the car pulled me out into the street and as i picked my self up i went and ran out to him in the street and he lay motionless just looking straight up into the sky with his eyes open i tried to pick him and give him cpr to do anything i could do.” grieving and desperate the couple was interviewed by detectives. their blood was drawn– and …
